The Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888)
A massive interstellar bubble formed by the fierce, fast stellar winds from the aging Wolf-Rayet star WR 136, which is colliding with and illuminating the slower-moving gas ejected by the star earlier in its life. This collision ionizes the surrounding gas, causing it to glow brightly and creating its distinctive, shell-like appearance that resembles a glowing crescent moon or a brain.
